About the Silver Jazz Band
The Silver Jazz Band serves as a laboratory jazz experience for instrumentalists in grades 7-12 which focuses on developing fundamental jazz and improvisational skills. Membership consists of all jazz students in grades 7-8 as well as beginning jazz students in grades 9-12 and those wishing to perform on a secondary jazz instrument. Occasionally, advanced 6th grade instrumentalists are invited to participate. The Silver Jazz Band rehearses once per week after school from October through April and co-hosts the annual Rochester Area Jazz Festival with the Blue Jazz Band. The Band also performs for school functions and assemblies throughout the year.
