The 2008-09 Blue Jazz Band

 Congratulations to the Blue Jazz Band for earning an Excellent Rating at the PMEA Jazz Adjudication Festival held at North Allegheny High School on April 6, 2009!

The Blue Jazz Band would like to thank the following Jazz Bands and their directors for attending the first annual Rochester Area Jazz Festival on March 13, 2009: The South Side Area High School Jazz Band directed by Mrs. Erin Sypien, the New Brighton Area High School Jazz Band directed by Mrs. Jamie Bielstein, the Ambridge Area High School Jazz Band directed by Mr. Todd Hartman, and the Westminster College Faculty Jazz Quintet consisting of Andy Erb on trumpet, Mark Antonich on guitar, Jeff Wachter on piano, Jeff Bremer on bass, and P.J. Gatch on drums. Congratulations to all bands for a fine performance!

About the Blue Jazz Band

The Blue Jazz Band is the premier jazz ensemble at Rochester Area Jr.-Sr. High School. The Band rehearses three hours per week after school from October through April and performs a variety of jazz repertoire written for standard big band instrumentation. Membership is open to Junior-Senior High School instrumentalists by audition only. The Band hosts the annual Rochester Area Jazz Festival and performs at a PMEA Jazz Adjudication festival as well as several local jazz festivals and community and school events throughout the year.
