MISSION STATEMENT
Musical performances celebrate the human spirit. As our students learn the values of dedication, determination, discipline, leadership and teamwork, we will achieve success through commitment to these values while we strive to develop a lifelong appreciation of music and the performing arts within all members.
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
The band program at Rochester Area High School is one of the largest organizations in our school district and includes the award winning Marching Rams as well as two concert ensembles: The Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, two jazz bands: The Blue Jazz Band and the Silver Jazz Band, a concert Percussion Ensemble, and competitive Indoor Percussion and Indoor Coloruard ensembles. In addition, several small chamber groups including Saxophone Quartet, Woodwind Ensemble and Brass Choir perform throughout the year.
Located in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, approximately 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh at the confluence of the Beaver and Ohio rivers, Rochester Area School District is comprised of three small communities: Rochester Borough, East Rochester Borough and Rochester Township. With a total K-12 enrollment of approximately 925 students, nearly 90% of school districts in Pennsylvania are larger.
Despite our small school size, our music department and our instrumental music program offer our students many opportunities. Students are able to choose elective classes in Music History and Independent study Music Theory. Our concert and jazz ensembles have received Excellent and Superior Ratings at various adjudication festivals. In addition to performing at all varsity football games, the Marching Rams are a competitive member of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association and have recently earned first place at several competitions. The band has also performed for audiences at Cedar Point, Heinz Field, Hersheypark Stadium, Disney's Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios in Orlando, FL.
